Shot List

We have a six scene movie and these are the main shots for those. We picked these shots because they create a sense of suspense throughout the film. There are a number of close ups and over the shoulders to show what the characters are feeling and seeing. 

The Lost

Scouting- Location

Siesta Key Pier 

We decided to pick the Siesta Key beach for our filming area. There is a pier in the water and that is were we are going to lay out all the clothes. The beach is the perfect setting for our story line and with having the pier it makes everything easier. Siesta Key is very well known so having that in the movie everyone will know what it is and where. It will help create more meaning for the story. This also makes it suspenseful because people go there often so if people start going missing then many people could start to worry.

Casting- Actor/Actress

Casting

We had multiple people we could have chosen for the female part of the movie but we decided to choose Rachel Peel. I think she can be a well fit to the role to the part and understand her role better than others. As a group we wanted to try and keep the actors/actresses in the group but our problem was we did not have a boy in our group. We had to improvise and ask around and we now have Shane Peel playing the male role of the movie. Shane fit good for the role because he knows how to act and he will have good emotion during the movie. I feel very comfortable with the two people we picked to do this project. They are siblings so there should not be any awkwardness between them and they get along and act well together. It is a good thing to have people that are comfortable enough to work together because this helps smooth out the production.

*suspenseful music*

(Shows bulletin board with missing people (insert shot)

(Walking up showing all the clothes on the beach and in water.)

(Show foot prints in sand.)

*Go from feet up to the people’s face as they walk on beach*

Boy: Wow I can’t believe all these people are still missing.

Girl: It’s weird because they have no lead on what is actually happening to them.

Boy: Do you ever think why they went missing?

Girl: I never really try and think about it because there are so many of them going missing that it worries me…

Boy: Hopefully they are found and everyone can relax on the situation.

Girl: I’m hungry… Want to go grab me an ice cream?

Boy: Yeah sure do you want to come with?

Girl: No, I’ll just wait here.

*Boy leaves*

Voice Over: Walk into the water… You know you want to go away… Just keep walking… 

Don’t look back…

*Girl walks into the water and disappears*

*Boy reenters with ice cream*

Boy: Rachel? Rachel? Where did you go?

*Looks down at floor and sees her phone*

*Slow-mo drops ice cream*

Boy: What am I going to do?

Film Project Research- Fifth Movie

Death Note

The first two minutes of the movie shows what is the setting and sorta who the boy is in the story. There is music playing in the background and it's the music coming out of the boys headphones. They have a drone view of Seattle that shoots right over to the town area and shows you the school. Everything during the first two minutes everything was in slow motion. There is an insert shot with the kid passing the homework. Also an over the shoulder with the boys playing football. This movie is a Netflix original and is produced by "LP Entertainment" and "Vertigo Entertainment". Death Note had a very big budget of $40 million but there is nothing showing how much money was actually made after producing. Death Note was not nominated for any awards. 

Film Project Research- Fourth Movie

Hush

In the first two minutes of the movie did not show a lot of action but it showed her preparing her dinner. From the story summary she is a deaf women but she lives in the woods. There is nature sounds during the whole opening. The film had a drone fly over the trees and it started the opening above the trees and it moved all into the woods and moved into her house. There was a close-up on her face and the reflection in the computer. As well as a  good amount of insert shots with all the food she is preparing. They do close-ups on all of the food as she cuts it and opens it. Sound effects are used as she opens the wine and turns on the stove. The advertisement in the movie was the production group known as BH Production. They also use Intrepid Pictures. The production had a one million dollar budget on making the film itself. But looking around I could not find anything on how much money was made when it was produced. Hush was nominated for Best Limited Release Film and Best Screenplay. The movie won Best Directed Release Horror and Best Independent Horror.

Film Project Research- Third Movie

Silent Hill

In the first two minutes of the movie there is a lot of action going on. They used dialogue as the characters looked for the missing child. The camera has a aerial view with the look over of the waterfall.  There is a track camera that follows the women through the woods and a close-up on tires as they drive by. As well as a view from the bottom looking up at the parents yelling to the child. The production was put together on by "TriStar" and "Davis Films". While their budget was around $50 million and it made over $96.3 million. Silent Hill won an award for Best Horror in the Golden Trailer Award in 2006.

Film Project Research- Second Movie

Killing Ground

The first two minutes of the film did not show much of what was happening. It showed several long takes of different trees to show all the opening credits. There was incidental music throughout the two minutes and it made the movie more suspenseful. They used a crane camera to move down after showing the title and then moving down the trees. Screen Australia and IFC Midnight were featured along with being produced by Campfire Films. The budget for the movie was very low while making it but it was not stated. 11 years was used to make this radical horror film and the director knew exactly what he wanted to do. But the film ended up made $44,186 in the Worldwide Box Office. Killing Ground was nominated for the AACTA Award for Best Sound.

Film Project Research- First Movie

It Follows

The first two minutes of the story is just reveling the scared girl running out of the house and between the sidewalks. There was a pan camera to show the street and movie to the house just to see a girl run out of it. They also used a track camera as she ran down the sidewalk and this made the effect more real as she was almost "running for her life." It was a long shot film and there were not any cuts during the opening film. The opening credits were featuring what film producers were involved. Mainly "Animal Kingdom Production" and "Northern Light Films." It was produced by David Robert Mitchell and was associated with Two Flints. The editing of the featured was a fade out and in with the new company. This films budget was 2 million dollars but it made $23,250,755 in the Worldwide Box Office. It Follows was nominated for Empire Award for Best Horror and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Film Movie.

Project Selection- My Decision

For my decision our groups choice was film production. I think doing the film will open our eyes to a whole different world of entertainment. I work well with a camera and I understand all the small things there is with a camera. I will be working in a group with Rachel Peel and Abbey Kapusta. We will be doing a horror film and it would keep the audience asking. Rachel and Abbey would all be helping out and acting and I would do the camera and all the effects. As a group we would put it all together with the effects that we like and make it our own. I see Rachel being a actress and Abbey putting together all the costumes and even act in it as well. I see a high potential for this film and what it has to come.

Project Production- Magazine

There are many aspects that are used in journalism with all the research of the topic, investigation, and publishing the final piece. As a publisher you have to make sure all the information you are publishing is true because many people will be viewing it. In the Newsroom; the magazine, TMI post a lot of negative views for their ratings to come up. I understand the writing and what the meaning is behind it to catch the readers attention. The project would be challenging because sometimes I do not really use the right words to explain things going on. I could work harder on my way of words to help with the publishing. In class we have looked over many magazines so trying to find one that interest me shouldn't be hard. Magazines can be difficult but if you research enough and lay it all out on a draft it should fold together.

Project Production- Film

Film production is an interest to me because I enjoy seeing the final product come together. The whole idea of being apart of a film production makes me want to try do the best that I can. The aspect are all things we have learned in class from researching to laying it all out. Making the whole set up to try and put it all together is where the magic happens. While watching films in Media Studies I have seen the way films have come together and what the audience is looking for. I have taken a two photography classes and I am very comfortable with using a camera to video and capture the work towards the final product. The challenging part of this project is having a video that does not give to much to the audience. It might be hard to just end on something instead of telling the whole story.
