3rd Quarter Feedback
During our submission viewing we saw that our sound didn't work as well as we thought. Many people liked the new film more than our old one. We have to clip on of the parts because the actress is laughing too long so it makes the sound too loud. The class agreed that our plot of the movie was well thought out and you could tell the story line a lot more through this film. There was no confusion on what was happening unlike last time. There was a better reason for the actor leaving his sister instead of just giving her space. Over all this submission was drastically better than the last. Once we fix the sound and the one clip the film will be ready for final submission.

3rd Quarter Submission
Question Four: Draft
How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online - in this project?
During our film we integrated technology while producing it. We used the Canon T5I Rebel camera to take all the shots. In the first draft of the film we used iMovie to put the film together but on the new draft we used Adobe Premier. The Adobe product was an easier way to put the film together and get all the clips together. We noticed that iMovie wasn't a good choice because it didn't have the options we needed to complete our movie to the best standard. We also posted our film to Youtube for it to be view by other media study classes. Youtube helped us post it because if we didn't have Youtube we would not have been able to post the film to submit it.

Question Three: Draft
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
Throughout this production my skills have developed a lot. From our first film I was filming with a handheld that was a bit wobbly. On to our second film we got a camera and a stand for it. This helped with the wobbling and keeping the camera steady as we shoot the film. I was the film person through this process and it made me see that it isn't as hard as it looks. You just have to be patient with the camera and retaking multiple shots over and over till you get the right one. Us as a team has grown together and learned from each other. We have seen that communication is key to a well working group. The more communication we have the better we worked when the time came. As a group we had small struggles but that all came from miss communication in the beginning. I do have to say though, all of our skills have gotten a lot better. We have all accomplished making a film together even with the ups and downs we went through. I am proud of where I have gotten to with my filming and I'm proud of the others for the hard work we put into this film.

Question Two: Draft
How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?
Our film engages a younger audience because of it being a horror film. Horror films are more towards younger children, such as teenagers and young adults. Our film features a teenager and younger adult so this helps with the audience. The situation is very real for kids in the age range of 15-28 because it is in a well known place and many people don't usually worry about this type of thing. Neither of these characters were ready or prepared for this situations so this movie made it hard on the characters and left some suspense.
For distribution I think the movie would work out better if it was distributed off of Netflix and Amazon. The film isn't a huge film so showing it in theaters might not be a good idea and it won't have a good turn out. Netflix is meant for smaller films and they have a wide range of horror films. Amazon and Netflix together would give our film enough exposure for people to view and give feed back on our film. Through Netflix it might take a while to reply with the request to post the movie on there but many times they don't charge you to do it. But many people try to get their films on Netflix so it can be hard sometimes.
Question One: Draft
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
Our product "The Lost" challenges other horror film because it is during the day, many horror films you watch are at night because that is scarier. But we took a leap and made our film during the day so make it more suspicious. From the movie "Silent Hill" they used a close up on the character's face and tires as they drive fast past to show you something bad happened, well we used a close up on the phone to show that someone important was calling the phone. We also used some background music with the seagulls to help with the setting of the beach. In other horror films they add all sorts of background music and sound effects to make the setting and meaning more than it is.
During our movie, being that it was a horror movie not many have set social groups they are represented for. But our film was towards family. It was not only that it was a brother and sister together. It was a older brother losing and having to find his little sister before it is too late. The age group was from 15-28 years old because that's around the age of the actors. With films in the horror genre it is hard to give a specific social group. Ours crosses the line and gives you more to the movie along with a social group it is referring to.

Digital Distribution- Second
Paranormal Activity 4 was everywhere. Any Si-Fi channel, any movie theater trailer, and any ad on a game or television. Every theater had it playing for about four months because it was that popular and it pulled in 53,900,335 dollars over that time. The film was also shown in IMAX which gives it a step up in the film industry. Many people enjoy having the close up into the life of paranormal activity and it gives off more horror. Just in the first week the movie got $33,957,365 and was in 3,412 theaters. With putting the film everywhere and giving previews of the horror to come made everyone so ready for the movie. Paramount did an amazing job with the film and it satisfied peoples need.
Digial Distribution- First
During the production of "It Follows" it was shown all over the world. Trailers for the film were shown on every channel and in every theater, trying to get the word out that the new film would be coming to theaters March 13th. The movie made a total of 14,674,076 dollars and the film stayed in theaters for up to 3 months. The movie just kept pulling in more and more viewers, which meant more money for the production company. You can find this film on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Films. That is a main thing for productions theses days, putting it out there for people who can't make it to the theaters.

Distribution Research
Traditional distribution is a chain of businesses or intermediaries through which a good or service passes until it reaches the end consumer. Which means it is posted all around the world through different markets to get the word out. We as a group could use this to help promote our film in the future. If we found a big name production group we could pay for our film to be shown on their channels. We could also rent out a movie theater for our film and show it there along with selling our own tickets. Netflix is another option, they tend to produce many films in all ranges. Netflix could sponsor us to show our movie on their widely known app.

Revision- Story Board
The story board for the film is as seen. We put the main scenes in the board to show what was more important. Rachel drew the story board because she is the most artistic out of the group. The story board had to be remade because we changed our film's story line.

Revison- Script
With completely changing the film we had to change the script around. The actors didn't really have to improvise, because their words flowed together so well. We changed the story behind it and the ending scene.
The Lost Script:
Rachel Peel: Rachel
Shane Peel: Shane
Kidnapper
Girl who hangs missing poster
Rachel: Hey
Shane: Hey! How are you?
Rachel: I'm good
Shane: Good, God it's great to see you? So how's school?
Rachel: It's good
Shane: Good. I don't have to worry about any boys do I?
Rachel: No (sigh)
Shane: You remind what I do right? Like the last one
Rachel: No
Shane: Yeah that's it remember when I threw him in that squad car. What was that guy's name again?
Rachel: (embarrassed) No please don't
Shane: (repeating) What was his name again? Good times!
Girl who hangs missing poster: Hey guys sorry to interrupt, but a lot of girls have gone missing so if you have any information will you please call us?
Rachel: Yeah for sure
Girl who hangs missing poster: Thank you
Rachel: What? Do you know anything about this?
Shane: Yeah it's actually a case that I am working on
Rachel: Are there any leads? Has anybody found the guy?
Shane: Not yet but five girls have gone missing in the past three months
Rachel: Oh my gosh
Shane: But we are getting close though, I can feel it. Okay?
Rachel: (depressed) Okay
Shane: I've got this you know I've got this
Rachel: I know
Shane: I've never let anything happen to you. All right?
Rachel: All right
Shane: It's my Lieutenant I've got to take this, I will be right back
Rachel: Okay
Shane: (on phone) Yes sir, of course, I will be on my way
Rachel: (answers phone call) Hey where did you go? Aw really? Definitely next week, Alright bye love you.
Rachel: (calls Shane again) Did you forget something?
*Rachel shoved into truck*
Rachel: NO please stop!!

Revison- Location
We moved locations to the pavilion by the Siesta Key play ground. This area gave us a more casual approach as the siblings talk about about their lives. They was less sound so it was easier to hear the actor's conversation. There was no back ground sound that messed up the sound and it looked better with them just sitting down and talking. I think we all enjoyed shooting there because it went smoother with the camera and it was less shaky. Tuesday, February 6, 2018
Super Bowl Commercials
After watching the Super Bowl commercials I saw that most of them all had the same target audience. It was between teenagers and older people in their later years. They incorporated a few products such as the new Mountain Dew Ice and Dorito Blaze. The producers had the actors singing well known songs from the 2000's. This got to the younger people because they were rapping the songs but it also caught older people's attention because the people singer were older and well known. There was another commercial that had the newly invented "Alexa" it is a talking app that helps you with every day tasks. They used a number of famous people interacting with casual every day people. This ad was mostly towards people sixteen and up because not many young children will understand how to use it. The Winter Olympics commercial touched a lot of heart in the screening of it. It showed the girl growing up and how much she has put into her training to get where she is today. Alicia Keys is singing in the background and the commercial is kind of a women empowerment move. All of these commercials caught the eyes of all the people watching. All of these ads had a focus group and they achieved that goal of getting their attention. We could incorporate this in our film by maybe opening out horizon to older people but that would mea we have to add older folks into our film.

Target Audience Research
Mean Girls is a more common and well known movie. It is from 2004 so it is more up to date but it has a good focus group, teenage girls. This is most commonly a girl's favorite chick-flick. It is a comedy but its a tad over rated because it is pretty stereotypical towards girls. The film was persuasive in it producing because girls are looking for a chick-flick. It has a very humorous plot that keeps the audience laughing and enjoying the movie.

Target Audience Research
Ferris Bueller's Day Off had a huge target towards teenagers. They marketed their product by radios and TV screens but also posters. It was a popular film and if you didn't hear about it then your friends did. The talk about the movie had people loving it, when more people talk the more it gets out there for people to go and see it. It was persuasive because many people wanted a funny movie and this movie had it all and many were talking nonstop about it. Not to mention people would watch it over and over again.
Target Audience- Our Film
My audience is around the teenage years but it can also be looked at the siblings point of view and that can be any age group. It is particularly any type of gender because of the group we are looking into. The range can be from teens in high school to adulthood as well. The film is a brother and sister hanging out together and you see the brothers fear when his sister goes missing. This is supposed to catch the audience's attention because of the connection they have with the characters.

Social Groups
The social group that we are looking at is younger people and or people that live near Siesta Key. The relationship between siblings could also be a social group because it shows how the actors are as siblings. It also shows that older brothers are very over protective with their little siblings especially sisters. Our movie is based off of the beach and the people on the beach. We are trying to catch the attention of the people around the area. Siesta Key is a well known area and a lot of people know the beach for it's beautiful scenery and sand but they do not know the backside of it with all the mystery and missing people.

Plans for the Revision
There are many revisions that are going to be needed to change. Our first shot of the movie was a very rough draft hence the reason on why there is no sound and shaky camera. We are going to have reshoot the scenes that aren't clean enough. There are some script sentences that need to be revised and changed to make the storyline more compelling. I think the location is going to be changed to away from the water just because of the sound issues. Along with the posters we have, they will be hung up around the area instead of in the sand. Editing will be more seamless and title will be posted longer.

Short Film Final
This is my finished product for the movie. As I do know I will need to make revisions for next quarter to make the movie seamless.
Final Script
Here is the new and approved final script of the film. We had to change the script because the actors were siblings so they just used improv throughout the film. This made the film run a lot smoother and flow together as a piece.
Script
Boy: "So how's school going"
Girl: "It's good.."
Boy: "Classes?"
Girl: "Good..."
Boy: "Boys?"
Girl: "You know I'm not going to tell my big brother about boys"
Boy: " "Aww come on I want you to be able to tell me anything, you're my little sister"
Girl: "Wait what's that"
*points down at the ground toward missing poster on the rocks*
*picks up missing sign off the ground*
Boy: "Oh yeah, I wasn't going to tell you because of school and everything, but hey dont worry about that, they will be fine, but hey I'm going to run to the bathroom real fast, stay right here. Dont move!"
*girl looking out at the ocean waiting*
cop: "You said you left her right here?"
Boy: "Yeah she was just right there, I went to the...."
*Rubs his face cuz he's freaking out*
Boy: I left her right there, she was just right there. I went to the bathroom and when I came back she was gone.
Cop: Okay well here is my card, if you see or hear anything give me a call.
*shakes hands with the cop*
Boy: Thank you so much
Cop: Alright take it easy
*fanning the card on his hand*
Boy: Where did you go? I swear I will find you.
THE END
