3rd Quarter Feedback

During our submission viewing we saw that our sound didn't work as well as we thought. Many people liked the new film more than our old one. We have to clip on of the parts because the actress is laughing too long so it makes the sound too loud. The class agreed that our plot of the movie was well thought out and you could tell the story line a lot more through this film. There was no confusion on what was happening unlike last time. There was a better reason for the actor leaving his sister instead of just giving her space. Over all this submission was drastically better than the last. Once we fix the sound and the one clip the film will be ready for final submission.

3rd Quarter Submission

This is the new submission of "The Lost". We did change the location and used a different camera and stand. Also we added a new actress into the film just for a few seconds to bring new faces into it.

Question Four: Draft

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware, and online -  in this project?

During our film we integrated technology while producing it. We used the Canon T5I Rebel camera to take all the shots. In the first draft of the film we used iMovie to put the film together but on the new draft we used Adobe Premier. The Adobe product was an easier way to put the film together and get all the clips together. We noticed that iMovie wasn't a good choice because it didn't have the options we needed to complete our movie to the best standard. We also posted our film to Youtube for it to be view by other media study classes. Youtube helped us post it because if we didn't have Youtube we would not have been able to post the film to submit it.

Question Three: Draft

How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

Throughout this production my skills have developed a lot. From our first film I was filming with a handheld that was a bit wobbly. On to our second film we got a camera and a stand for it. This helped with the wobbling and keeping the camera steady as we shoot the film. I was the film person through this process and it made me see that it isn't as hard as it looks. You just have to be patient with the camera and retaking multiple shots over and over till you get the right one. Us as a team has grown together and learned from each other. We have seen that communication is key to a well working group. The more communication we have the better we worked when the time came. As a group we had small struggles but that all came from miss communication in the beginning. I do have to say though, all of our skills have gotten a lot better. We have all accomplished making a film together even with the ups and downs we went through. I am proud of where I have gotten to with my filming and I'm proud of the others for the hard work we put into this film.

Question Two: Draft

How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Our film engages a younger audience because of it being a horror film. Horror films are more towards younger children, such as teenagers and young adults. Our film features a teenager and younger adult so this helps with the audience. The situation is very real for kids in the age range of 15-28 because it is in a well known place and many people don't usually worry about this type of thing. Neither of these characters were ready or prepared for this situations so this movie made it hard on the characters and left some suspense.
For distribution I think the movie would work out better if it was distributed off of Netflix and Amazon. The film isn't a huge film so showing it in theaters might not be a good idea and it won't have a good turn out. Netflix is meant for smaller films and they have a wide range of horror films. Amazon and Netflix together would give our film enough exposure for people to view and give feed back on our film. Through Netflix it might take a while to reply with the request to post the movie on there but many times they don't charge you to do it. But many people try to get their films on Netflix so it can be hard sometimes.

Question One: Draft

How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Our product "The Lost" challenges other horror film because it is during the day, many horror films you watch are at night because that is scarier. But we took a leap and made our film during the day so make it more suspicious. From the movie "Silent Hill" they used a close up on the character's face and tires as they drive fast past to show you something bad happened, well we used a close up on the phone to show that someone important was calling the phone. We also used some background music with the seagulls to help with the setting of the beach. In other horror films they add all sorts of background music and sound effects to make the setting and meaning more than it is.
During our movie, being that it was a horror movie not many have set social groups they are represented for. But our film was towards family. It was not only that it was a brother and sister together. It was a older brother losing and having to find his little sister before it is too late. The age group was from 15-28 years old because that's around the age of the actors. With films in the horror genre it is hard to give a specific social group. Ours crosses the line and gives you more to the movie along with a social group it is referring to.
